In operations leadership roles and as Assistant Corporate General Manager:* Established the Systems Operations Center that reduced expenses by an average of 4,500 crew starts per month.* Restored credible rail service to the General Motors Oklahoma City Assembly Plant, resulting in $30 million in new railroads business and a $2 million per day savings in inventory for GM.* Helped establish the first double-stack train service to Mexico City that yielded $25 million of new annual revenue and guided a dramatic reversal of the railroad’s financial position.

Enjoyed an illustrious fifteen-year tenure that culminated in the role of Regional Superintendent of Transportation, Southern Region, in Indianapolis.My transportation career began at Conrail, during the declining years of the old New York Central System and the Pennsylvania Railroads, and the ill-fated Penn Central. Eighteen moves over many years to the industrial and manufacturing centers in the northeastern quadrant of the U.S. provided me with invaluable exposure to these important operations.* Among my accomplishments are negotiating the first performance guaranteed contracts with Ford Motor Company that ensured annual revenue in excess of $100 million and annual inventory savings to Ford of $200 million.* During my tenure in Cleveland, headquarters of the United Transportation Union, I was personally involved with difficult, but successful, labor-management concessions that produced a host of new agreements allowing cost efficient reforms to become possible. Conrail remains both competitive and viable in the private sector today.
