From training internationally in California and Bermuda as well as locally, while remaining employed in CATV operations and construction, to planning, technical writing and training, I have navigated most facets of the CATV industry. Moving from analog and video, to internet, digital television, VoIP and FTTx, I have been involved in the evolution of the industry from it's infancy to where we are today.To summarize ...My industry knowledge and excellent employee engagement results have been as a result of my progression through the ranks as:Service Technician; from the tap to the CPE.Network Technician; including on call, responsible for signals from the node to the tap including power supply maintenance, also was lead hand while doing two-way, internet upgrades including cutting, sweeping and node hardening.Field inspector; for Cogeco's largest footprint, from South of Toronto, to Fort Erie.Management; Supervisor and then a Manager. During my tenure, we brought installation activity in house and I hired and trained a staff of over 25 technicians, who looked after both installs and service. During this time FTTH came about and I was involved in the very first FTTH install and then developed parameters for FTTH technicians.Quality support coordinator; Responsibilities included buried service wires, installation inspections and technical training, as well as defending Cogeco on litigation cases on multiple occasions.I have been an active participant in the Ontario chapter of the SCTE where I currently sit as a board member. I have presented at forums and participated in the Cable Tech games successfully.My education is an Electronics Engineering Technician and I have continued with cable related courses through Jones/NCTI, where I have received "Master Technician" status, and am progressing towards my Associate degree in Broadband Technical Management. Based out of Bolton, Ontario, just outside of Toronto we are well positioned geographically, and currently have staffing resources based across Ontario.I have been hired to work out of Hamilton where I will be working as a system planner (under contract) with Rogers (https://www.rogers.com/ ). My prime role will be that of system planner for the Source Cable footprint (http://www.sourcecable.ca/ ) and assist in the planning department integration with Rogers Cable. Being local to my personal place of residence, I am still available for consulting and RF Technical writing after hours.Source Cable had been a family run business for over 50 years.
