DRI is a technology startup in the mobile gift card, loyalty and couponing industry. I led Development and UI/UX teams to built 3 web applications: ASP.NET, an iPhone and an Android application. We established clear development and design principles and procedures to enable the flow of internal and user ideas to make the interfaces more intuitive. I managed the process of creating user interfaces for the websites and mobile devices that were interesting, easy to use, fit the theme and were functional. I talked to users during the BETA phase to gain insight into user behavior and I formulated changes to the interfaces to create a better experience.

Wasp is a software company in the AIDC (Automatic Identification and Data Capture) industry that integrates software with in house hardware to form complete solutions for small businesses. I managed multiple teams that designed and developed retail products including an inventory and asset management product, a time and attendance product, a point of sale offering, label printing software and a restaurant point of sale application. User experience and interface design was a main role. I used customer feedback, use cases, research and proven interface design techniques to design the interface. I managed post release product improvements to the interface and features based on customer feedback and usability surveys that I designed. I lead numerous successful product certifications and integrations including integration with QuickBooks, PCI POS certification and Windows compatibility certifications among others. These all involved strict adherence to legal, interface and contractual guidelines. I managed the internationalization and localization of all our hardware and software products and literature into multiple languages. This involved identifying the different interface changes needed to fit text or to make sure regional interface guidelines were followed. I managed the documentation team and lead documentation design including formatting and style and product integration to make the documentation easy to access and understand.

At this contract position I was part of a team converting legacy portfolio management code to C++. I developed a code generator interface for internal users who were programmers so that they could easily convert old classes into the new format.

Timeline was a computer game company that created the game Timeline based on the popular book and movie of the same name written by Michael Crichton. I managed all teams including development, QA, game design, art and testing. I managed and participated in all design phases of the game and interface focused on user experience. I managed all pre release game play focus groups with external players to improve the interface and game dynamics. I lead the review of the recorded sessions to develop experience improvement plans.

Virtus was a 3D technology company. We created more than 10 products and spun off 4 companies based on our 3D base technology while I was there. I was responsible for identification of market niches where 3D applications could be developed and for high level design of products to fit the market need. I worked with clients to design analytics on existing data to collect requirements and design interfaces that fit existing and new business processes with ROI as the main goal. I designed and managed the international release of an easy to use commercial 3D game editing product line for 3 popular first person shooter computer games. I designed and managed pre-release live usability testing sessions for all applications and used the results to improve the products interfaces before release. I Managed support feedback on the products after release to identify and fix usability and functional issues.

Dwight’s was a petroleum data company that created software to optimize the process of extracting oil and gas from the ground. We had over 10 products targeted at different processes in the industry. I designed wizard based user experiences, some with up to 40 steps, for our user/client driven software products and tools for the petroleum industry by meeting with clients to understand the user behavior wanted with each product or tool. I managed the project team that programmed all the screens and other elements such as interfaces to hardware, report printing, installer experience, and network communication interface. I spoke directly to customer/users to gain insight into user experience and functional issues during design and after release so I could lead the team to improve the interfaces and fix bugs.
