Developer Zone gives MasterCard a strategic advantage over other payment processors.• Led the re-platforming of the company’s Developer Zone from a Confluence based CMS to a Responsive React based front-end with a Java based Brightspot back-end CMS. The new site will use Swagger (a specification system to describe Rest API’s) definitions to drive content and SDK generation for each service MasterCard offers. This will make content management easier to maintain and the creation of SDK’s for many languages (Java, PHP, Ruby, etc.) more consistent.• Responsible for planning the re-platforming of the companies API gateway from a homegrown Java based system to XML Gateway with an APIMan front door.• Led an Agile Scrum team of 11 developers with resources in NYC, Dublin, Singapore and Malaysia. -
Principal Performance EngineerEbay Enterprise Apr 2012 - Oct 2015Us• Designed and built internal Executive Dashboard using perl, php, mysql, jquery and bash scripts. Functions as Executive real-time and historical view of key metrics for the business: orders per minute, sales, uptime vs. SLA, production issues, orders by device type and batch processing run-times to name a few. Received the company’s “Blue Moon” award for this.• Architected a system to monitor and alert on Amazon EC2 instances running longer than expected. Load and QA testing users were creating numerous EC2 instances, forgetting to shut them down upon completion, costing the company significant expense. This system is used for “Root Cause Analysis”.• Engineered a system using SNMP calls against the company’s many Big-Ip’s to monitor traffic (inbound, outbound and active connections). With the company running numerous stores, spotting “Denial of Service Attacks” by looking at overall traffic is challenging. This system solves that problem by monitoring individual stores and alerting on high traffic patterns.• Designed and built a system to report on mobile device usage, categorized by store. This provides the company visibility into which stores have the highest utilization of mobile devices and how to best deploy mobile development efforts.• Created a business metric monitoring system that tracks critical company metrics. This system has saved the company millions of dollars in SLA penalties by proactively notifying of production issues prior to them causing system downtime. • Built a web log monitoring and alerting system that analyzes jsp response time for an average of 135 million page views per day. This monitoring system enabled the company to recognize, and quickly remediate poor performing pages. -

The tool, written in Java and C measures Memory, CPU and Database consumption of a JSP, is used by developers in identifying JSP’s that are performance bottlenecks.• Based on analysis of the server architecture, recommended the correct combination of servers to successfully handle fourth quarter peak. This analysis allowed the company to handle over $250M in 4th quarter sales with uptime exceeding 99.75%. -

The ACF is used to control and configure the company’s communications switch, and is built using PostgreSQL, Java, JSP’s, JavaScript and HTML.• Created a custom CE.Net OS build (using Microsoft Platform Builder) to run End Instrument software.• Built the embedded interface between the companies switch and an L-3 Comm STE/R (Secure Terminal Equipment).• Created a custom Debian Linux OS that runs on a PC104 (small board computer) using a compact flash as the hard drive. This configuration was used to control hardware shelf’s within the company’s switch. -
