• Led the Engineering team of Xumii from stealth startup mode through market launch to acquisition and beyond, building a mobile social messaging platform for mobile carriers and handset manufacturers.• Worked with mobile carriers to embed the Xumii platform inside their network, enabling a range of mobile social messaging products and services, available to subscribers via iOS, Android, J2ME and mobile web apps.• Worked with handset manufacturers to embed Xumii software inside their software stack, to create phones with integrated social messaging, social browser and content discovery and sharing.• Xumii was acquired in 2009 by Myriad Group (SIX:MYRN), Europe's largest mobile software company and provider of software to more than 2 billion mobile phones.• During the 12 months following acquisition, we won contracts valued at USD 100 million, to deliver mobile social messaging into 12 countries.

• Built and led an Innovation Lab for Lonely Planet, with a focus on mobile, social, geo, and video.• Mobile - SMS services and travel content apps.• Geo - Created the LPmaps platform and SDK, enabling the diverse portfolio of Lonely Planet websites to present their content through a consistent interactive map interface, allowing users to explore and navigate between multiple content layers including travel commentary, hotel reviews, photos, and videos. LPmaps included an open developer API which rapidly scaled to handle 20m monthly transactions.• Video / Social - Managed the reboot of Lonely Planet TV into a UGC travel video website, blended with premium video content produced by Lonely Planet. LPTV was the first UGC video site to feature content discovery and navigation via an interactive map (using LPmaps).

Projects included content syndication to food, property, financial services and directory sites.• Ezishop (Sydney, 1998) - Directed this multi-channel television / catalogue / mobile / internet retailer from startup into its first television media contract. Managed the launch of an e-commerce website, including an innovative TV / web / phone auction application.• Dragoman Travel (London, 1997) – Created world-first Group Travel Blog, documenting an adventure through the archaeological sites of Central America.• Benetton (London, 1995) – Built one of the first e-commerce websites, selling Benetton Formula 1 merchandise. Hosted the loudest sound sample on the internet - an F1 engine over-rev.

Created ‘MegaFruit’, a slot machine game for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, squeezed into 16,384 bytes of Z80 machine code. The game enjoyed commercial success from a distribution deal with Thor Computer Games. Nowadays MegaFruit can be played on an emulator on my phone, and the game has recently been licensed for inclusion on retro gaming consoles.
