Liaise with VP Engineering and lead implementation of new product designs and existing product updates.Develops and implements manufacturing processes to support manufacture of new products and product updates. Provides customer support for the installation of new products by traveling to field installations for troubleshooting and other assistance.Assists VP Operations in setting up internal manufacturing systems, manufacturing process design, plant layout, definition and use of capital equipment to be consistent with component sources to insure product flow through the Kelso operations is quick and of high quality.

Develop contract costs by defining work package content; i.e.; assigning man-hours for tasks and work to be performed, generating work specific bills of materials with associated costs.Validate contract costs using existing available data (historical) and through due-diligence activities.Develop where necessary specifications for electrical and mechanical parts/systems.Participate in and/or supervise reverse engineering projects.Perform technical assessment of products and establish appropriate client solutions.Seek and qualify alternative suppliers to improve part LCC and reliability.Monitor product performance and recommend changes where justified.Lead design reviews.Ensure products specified/sold comply with all regulations/industry standards in the markets where parts or services are sold.Act as participant in client/supplier technical councils.

Provides expertise in mechanical engineering relative to railcar equipment.Duties will include parts research related to Articulated Connectors and Trucks as used on TTX equipment. This information will be used in an Internet Parts Identification system.Services used to resolve questions from the Engineering Help Desk.Duties will include Mechanical Training and Field Inspections as defined.

Responsible for logistics activities for ABC-NACO. This includes scheduling and monitoring of production at all Manufacturing locations.Responsible for all commercial engineering activities. This includes application engineering, service engineering, manufacturing support, warranty, bills of material, drawing and 3-D model administration.Responsible for providing contract review, design review and application advice for railroad components and systems.Develops concepts and applications with Customers, working with Sales, Customer Service and Engineering on technical information, print approval, drawings, Production and Manufacturing sites on order details.Serves as Corporation's representative on the Truck Manufacturers' Engineering Committee and the Mechanical Committee of the Standard Coupler Manufacturers of the Association of American Railroads; Computer literate in various word processing, spreadsheet, material resource planning, and database software packages, and proficient in several CAD systems.

Develops designs for new products for the railroad industry.Generates 3D models, 2D sketches, layouts, and detailed assembly drawings. Creates layouts used in settling mechanical details with customers. This includes meeting with Customers and working with Marketing, Purchasing, and Manufacturing personnel.Designs products to meet strength and performance criteria. Guides Draftsmen in their early development.Established standards and practices for company's CAD program. Generates and maintains CAD 2D and 3D Database using Electronic Data Systems' Unigraphics II; s Pro/ENGINEER CAD Packages. Unigraphics user since November 1989. Pro/ENGINEER user since January 1993. Other software packages used: CADKEY, Word Perfect, Quattro Pro, Microsoft's Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
