Fellowship hosted by the Office of Climate Change Policy & Technology, Office of Policy & International Affairs.• Coordinated the development and launch of the Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) initiative, an international collaboration to accelerate the deployment of highly energy efficient products (see www.superefficient.org).• Played a key role in the development and launch of the Clean Energy Ministerial process and its energy efficiency initiatives (see www.cleanenergyministerial.org).• Developed and launched Office strategy for analysis of international climate and energy policy and Department research initiative on the incorporation of climate change impacts into policy and regulatory analysis.• Provided key technical support to the White House-led process on incorporating the social cost of carbon into regulatory analysis and to the development of legislative proposals to promote energy efficiency.• Served as Department advisor to the U.S. delegation to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s 31st Plenary session and helped coordinate the U.S. author/reviewer nomination process for the Fifth Assessment Report.

Postdoctoral researcher in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs and the Department of Geosciences, working with Professors Michael Oppenheimer and Adam Maloof.Research areas included:- statistical analysis of records of sea level change during past planetary warm periods,- geological reconstruction of changes in microbial ecology and hydrology in the eastern U.S. during an ancient global warming event,- the role of soot pollution in modern climate change, - expected spatial patterns of future sea level rise, and- the ethics of geoengineering research.

Graduate research fellow in the Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences, working with Professor Joseph Kirschvink.• Conducted field, laboratory, and computational studies aimed at understanding changes in Earth’s atmosphere through the planet’s history. Studies included field research in Canada, the Bahamas, China, Australia, and South Africa and led to fourteen peer-reviewed publications.• Helped design and teach courses on Earth history and the interactions between life and the planet, and co-organized student geological field trips to the Mountain West, Mexico, and Australia.
