Responsible for ensuring that IS&T solutions are effectively and consistently applied to support the operational requirements of mining and processing plants.Responsibilities:• Worked in harmony with business units and support groups, external suppliers and consultants to design, implement and support technology solutions that enable the use of common business systems and processes. • Maintains functional and technical understanding of the IS&T systems supporting mining and processing operations. • Analyzes business processes and develops technical specifications to support new business requirements. • Researches, identifies, communicates and systemically addresses system improvement opportunities. • Participates in the vendor selection process insuring technical fit and function within the wider Rio Tinto IS&T landscape. • Assists in the development, implementation and support of packaged vendor solutions and standardizing their use. Support activities include implementing system upgrades and configuration changes to optimize system performance and ensure compliance with Rio Tinto standards and best practices. • Directs technical project teams, assembling and drawing upon internal and external experts to ensure that all technology solutions are designed, documented and supported.Areas of specific emphasis included:• Data Communications - Coordinated efforts to design, implement and support data communication networks required to support mining and processing operations. Works with vendors to drive the adoption and use of open standards. • Computing Infrastructure - Coordinated efforts to standardize computing hardware configurations and insures that adequate backup and disaster recovery processes and are implemented. • Interfaces and Reports - Coordinated efforts to development of interfaces and reporting solutions that integrate mining and processing systems with other business systems.

• Work with vendors and internal resources to design, install and implement technology solutions that enable Bingham Canyon use of common MM&C systems and processes. • Take a personal and active approach to health, safety and the environment and understand and follow all state, federal, and company regulations in these areas. • Monitor project scheduling and costs• Coordinate and maintain risk assessments.

• Administration of the Mine’s Monitoring & Control (MM&C) systems. • Train and mentor dispatchers and operations supervisors. • Monitor MM&C systems performance and assist in restoring the systems during off-hour outages. • Served as technical expert and data source for Six Sigma projects. • Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment. • Assist in the creation of department operating and capital budget • Maintain the Mine’s MM&C systems software and hardware interfaces. • Recommend improvements for existing MM&C systems by implementing system audit, maintenance, and quality procedures. • Assist in quality assurance of MM&C systems.• Worked closely with IS&T to develop Mine Management Reporting System

• Take a proactive approach to safety and inspire others. Understand and utilize the Rio Tinto safety standards to promote safe work practices and safety awareness.• Monitor and direct equipment to maximize shovel availability with truck productivity according to operating priority.• Coordinate production, maintenance and crusher operator activities to effectively carry out the mine plan.• Assign equipment and employees to various locations to maximize utilization of equipment and employees.• Work with computer systems that provide real time data to help plan and prioritize production activities on a continual basis. • Coordinate multiple activities between maintenance, production and crusher operator to minimize delays.• Communicate operational activities with team leader and supervisors in a timely, orderly, and professional manner.• Monitor and evaluate production alternatives to optimize overall production by recommending ideas to supervisors and Engineering. • Handle multiple conversations at one time and make quick and rational decisions.• Accurately maintain records.• Support and monitor MAY DAY activities.

• Supervise hourly employees in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, on a shift basis. • Ensure production is safely achieved in accordance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. • Respond to and take corrective action on production or other problems identified through dispatch and employee interactions. • Function as a field supervisor and coordinate with other field supervisors and field operators to ensure correct and efficient operations of the mine. • Direct work necessary to correct process and operational problems. • Function in a service oriented manner as a technical resource for work teams and management. • Promote a culture to ensure full compliance with all applicable Safety Standards. • Ensure crew members receive Safety Training for new equipment, tools, and processes. • Provide leadership, motivation, and accountability to direct reports. • Solicit input from work group members and ensure that accurate data is captured. • Verify and report labor availability for planning/scheduling. • Ensure that payroll is completed in a timely and accurate manner. • Personnel administration functions, documentation, and other activities as required.
