As team spokesman, Lange managed messaging in line with the vision of 49ers leadership. He oversaw team publications and related content for use on 49ers.com and the team’s social media channels. Lange worked in conjunction with the broadcast sales department to create and execute local and national media partnerships, while also managing fulfillment for the sponsorship sales team as it is relates to football operations. Lange’s team actively promoted the efforts of the 49ers award-winning Community Impact Team, including its community relations and social justice initiatives. The organization was named Beyond Sport’s 2015 Sport Team of the Year for Outstanding Philanthropic Sports Organization and was the 2013 winner of the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Steve Patterson Award for Sports Philanthropy. The team was also a two-time finalist for the ESPN Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year (2015 & 2016) before winning the award in 2017.During Lange’s tenure in the Bay Area, the 49ers organization publicly campaigned and achieved approval via a public vote to build a new home in Santa Clara. Lange spearheaded all publicity efforts associated with Levi’s Stadium, including securing financing, groundbreaking, sponsorship and premium sales, ribbon-cutting and stadium operations. Lange’s team also promoted all non-NFL events and various associated business streams.Lange’s team directed directed Levi’s Stadium communications efforts for world class events such as the Super Bowl, the College Football Playoff National Championship, WrestleMania, college bowl games and large-scale concerts. Publicity campaigns garnered international recognition, most notably the Sports Business Journal 2015 Sports Facility of the Year and Venue of the Year at the 2015 Stadium Business Awards in Barcelona, Spain. The venue has been recognized as an industry leader in the areas of venue management, sustainability, technology and security.

Since Lange joined the team as director of communications in 2009, the 49ers have twice been named finalists for the coveted Pro Football Writers of America Pete Rozelle Award (2011 and 2012). The award is presented annually to the NFL club public relations staff that consistently strives for excellence in its dealings and relationships with the media. During his time with the team, Lange has also led the publicity efforts for the team’s business operations, corporate partnerships and 49ers Enterprises - the team’s investment venture.

A two-time recipient of the Pete Rozelle Award (2001 & 2004) during his 10-year tenure with the team (1998-99 & 2001-08), the Eagles media services department was also recognized as a finalist for the award in 2003. The award is presented annually to the NFL club public relations staff that consistently strives for excellence in its dealings and relationships with the media. Lange had previously served as an intern in the department from 1998 to 1999.

As the primary contact for the football team, he assisted with the nationally ranked men's basketball program that twice qualified for the NCAA Tournament and reached the Elite Eight, in 2001. In 2000, Lange directed communications for the NCAA Men's Golf Regional Championship.
