In his 40 years as a trial lawyer, Robert P. (Bob) Latham has established himself as one of the leading trial lawyers in the country. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, among other honors. His nationally recognized expertise includes media litigation, intellectual property litigation and complex commercial litigation. His media law practice has involved the representation of international, national, and local media clients in matters involving the defense of libel, invasion of privacy, and newsgathering tort claims, at both the trial court and appellate court level, as well as counseling clients in matters of access, prior restraint, newsgathering, right of publicity, and prepublication review. Bob also serves as the Chair of ARTICLE 19, an NGO based in London that promotes freedom of expression worldwide. His intellectual property cases have involved patent, copyright, trademark, unfair competition, and trade secret disputes in jurisdictions from California to Massachusetts, including the international Trade Commission in Washington, D.C., in addition to those filed in the four federal districts within Texas. His varied trial practice has involved complex commercial disputes as well as unfair competition, securities, fiduciary, employment, professional negligence, banking, construction, real estate, product liability, telecommunications, energy, international, and class action matters. Bob has held a number of positions in the world of sports including Chair of USA Rugby and member of the Board of Directors of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee. He currently serves on the Executive Board of World Rugby (based in Dublin) and has served as Chair of the World Rugby Regulations Committee since 2012. Bob is also a sports commentator, columnist and author of "Winners & Losers: Rants, Riffs & Reflections on the World of Sports." A retired rugby player, Bob has been inducted into the U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame.
