After the acquisition of Ball, Blackford and management of Jay County Hospital; I was asked to leave my duties at Clarian Arnett and ensure that the transition of these facilities was handled with care. My first act was to hire all IT employees into IU Health. This was to let the other 3,000 employees know that we were there for them and they were just as important as all the other employees of IU Health. I then took on the task of understanding the best way to integrate them into IU Health. I was very successful in migrating them to Cerner from McKesson while keeping the Nurse server model in place. Many of the employees I hired moved on to leading roles at our Corporate office and are still there today. I also was successful in maintaining the management agreement with Jay County hospital while moving them to Meditech and proving them with their own Patient Portal the Ball pays for. -

Leading Hospital in Eastern PA, part of Community Health Systems, with 350 beds. Director of Information Technology• Directing staff of 24 encompassing the Communications and IT departments. Prior to my employment the facility was without a Director for approximately one year leaving many immediate challenges. After assessing the strengths and weaknesses of my staff, I setup a cross training schedule and an employee performance improvement incentive program that has resulted in a 28% increase in productivity, a retention rate of 98% which has lead to over 30 successful enhancements to patient care. • Deployed EMR for all (9) owned physician practices in 2006. Project started in 2005 with several face to face meetings with all physicians determining their needs and level of acceptance. After developing the RFP which was then accepted by the physicians, deployment went through without any major problem. Success hinged on changing the culture from paper to electronic media; accomplished by letting the physicians own the process throughout.• Directed the change of information flow between practices, both owned and otherwise, and the hospital by ensuring faster reliable access to patient information. This included enhancements to our portal/VPN, making available PACS viewing stations, training on Keane and Kodak and house calls when required.• Established electronic handoffs system for our medical residents.• Member of the orientation team for residents/students including training on all systems and assistance with posters for national meetings.• Automated report delivery and processing upon arrival resulting in $2,500 a day savings and elimination of 2 FTE’s.
