As Abstract & Indexing Operations Specialist at IntechOpen, I manage and ensure the metadata for our Open Access books and journals is optimised for maximum discoverability while maintaining and enhancing metadata for all of our published content. I work in depositing publication metadata, maintaining our OAI-PMH metadata repository, submitting publications for indexing in various citation and scientific databases, like Web of Science and Google Scholar. I also work with our publishing team to improve our publishing processes which impact or are affected by metadata as metadata relates to each step of the publishing process. I follow industry-wide data initiatives and gauge their potential impact for IntechOpen.

As a Publishing Process Manager, my responsibilities included monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I worked closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintained constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allowed for a level of personal support that enabled contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assisted authors in the preparation of their chapter submissions and tracked important deadlines and ensureed they are met. I helped to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitored the technical aspects of the process. As a PPM I was also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I established and helped manage author and editor acquisition and contact.

During this period I was a Customer Service Agent for Amazon.it, Amazon.es and rarely for Amazon.fr domain.Learned a great deal about operating within major internal systems, professional communication, quick thinking and problem solving.I helped over 2000 clients in solving their issues over phone, chat service and e-mail.

Years spent debating and later on coaching and judging debate were essential in improving my critical and analytical thinking. My communication skills were honed to levels of perfection as it was necessary to present your case with precision and absolute clarity to the judge(s). Timekeeping was of essence in order to convey your case as precise within the given time limit. Thinking fast in terms of pros and cons for both affirmative and negative sides of the topic given were an absolute must.
