Bob Picciano is Senior Vice President and Master Technical Client Advisor for IBM. In this role, Bob serves as the CTO across IBM's vast client base, representing all of IBM's products and services. Bob's 30+ years as an IBM and industry veteran leading R&D as well as Sales across the Software, Hardware, AI and Cloud portfolios uniquely positions him to help IBM's clients get the most from their IBM and industry portfolios. Bob also serves as the chair of IBM's People with Diverse Abilities business resource group, a select team who advocates for and champions diversity and inclusion in the workplace, with a special focus on people with disabilities and neurodiverse challenges.In a previous IBM SVP role, Bob had responsibility for all aspects of research, development, sales and marketing for IBM's Cognitive Systems portfolio, including IBM’s multi-billion dollar Power Systems franchise. Cognitive Systems’ infrastructure offerings serve cloud computing platforms and data center needs of all types. This comprehensive portfolio empowers clients to easily apply AI or advanced analytics to elevate their understanding of consumers, markets, risks and opportunities, while also advancing innovation and discovery. Bob and his team delivered the world's fastest and smartest HPC supercomputers (Summit and Sierra) to the U.S. Department of Energy National Labs and delivered a record eight quarters of growth in the Cognitive Systems business.Prior to that position, Bob was Senior Vice President, IBM Analytics, where he had global responsibility for all aspects of the world’s largest, and market-leading, analytics business. In this role, Bob drove a number of critical strategic initiatives to transform IBM’s advanced analytics portfolio, including IBM's acquisition of The Weather Company; the launch of Watson Data Platform, the first AI-powered data platform on the cloud; the launch of Watson Analytics, an award-winning SaaS analytics platform for business analytics; and the repositioning of IBM’s offerings by leveraging Open Source capabilities such as Hadoop, Spark and Python.Bob has also held a number of key General Management leadership positions within IBM’s Software business, which included leading Global Sales for the $20B Software Group, and leading IBM’s Information Management and Collaboration Software businesses.Bob holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Northeastern University.
