A self-motivated data networking professional with a commitment to technical excellence and a wealth of experience in IP networking. A pragmatic technical leader, equally capable of implementing and supporting network solutions as creating, testing and documenting network designs.• Started post-graduate career in 1987 at the Computing Services department of Southampton University gaining general experience in data networking as well as early exposure to Ethernet over twisted-pair, IP and multi-protocol LANs.• Moved to the Netherlands in 1993 to work for the Space and Defence division of Cray Systems on contract to the European Space Research & Technology Centre. Gained further experience in IP networking for LAN and WAN environments as well as ISDN and Videoconferencing.• Returned to the UK and joined CableTel UK (now Virgin Media) in 1996. Began with supporting and developing the rapidly growing Internet network and progressed through third-line operational support into network architecture in 2000. Lead a variety of technical programmes including IGP migration, BGP policy development, protocol security, denial of service mitigation, IP multicast development, DTV distribution over IP, Internet peering & transit development.• Founded Cofio Limited in 2010 providing freelance and contract data network consultancy services. Undertaken projects for Fujitsu, Thomson Reuters and Airbus Defence and Space.• Joined Ogi in 2021, returning to the UK ISP community and guiding the development of Ogi's network as it rolls out full-fibre services in Wales.• Returned to Cofio in 2023. Developing IoT and LoraWAN solutions.Using extensive design and implementation experience for end-to-end project delivery. Interested in designing, implementing and automating the multi-service data networks needed for today's demanding business environment.
