Prior to that, served as co-founder and Board Chair since July 1, 2008. The GNCVB is committed to generate economic growth and create new jobs for Newark by increasing the number of overnight visitors to Newark, their length of stay at Newark hotels and their per capita spending at Newark attractions and restaurants. Since GNCVB's first year of operations, Newark hotels have experienced 46% sales growth and city tax revenues have grown by nearly $2.5 million. I am proud of the accomplishments of the GNCVB team during my 18 months as interim CEO - three audits completed, legal and financial issues resolved, governance improvements, relocation to a new office with a great storefront location, aggressive digital and personal marketing efforts/outcomes, major initiatives in destination management and a successful new CEO search/hire - we really took major steps forward with a relatively nascent organization.
