Product HealthProduct staff did not have insight into overall product health. I re-purposed a logging and debugging tool used by developers and tweaked it to get usage data on our Web interfaces. I trained product staff to use the debug tool and mentored them in using data to prioritize work across our agile teams.Product LeadershipProduct staff struggled with aligning requirements to enterprise goals. I created a war room and mentored product staff in managing and prioritizing feature requests and bug reports. I facilitated bi-weekly workshops on writing and prioritizing user stories for our agile teams. I engaged stakeholders to explain enterprise goals and to begin planning a product roadmap. The collaboration I fostered built trust which allowed our product team to operate more freely and execute more quickly. Product OwnershipOur product team had not foreseen the quick emergence of mobile use on the Web. I researched the global mobile marketplace and the library marketplaces in Europe and the U.S. and presented a product initiation proposal describing the opportunity and outlining a path forward. My paper, combined with a prototype Web site, focused our product team on the need to provide mobile interfaces for our Web products. I worked with several customers, user experience experts and developers to create a customer-focused, production Web site for mobile devices.Responsibilities• Mentor product owners and business analysts• Manage Web statistics and reports• Assist in marketing roll out for new products• Lead agile development teams• Gather requirements from customers and internal clients• Write and conduct usability studies• Write documentation
  • Capital University
    Web Content Coordinator
    Capital University Feb 2002 - Mar 2007
    Columbus, Oh, Us
Innovative LeadershipCapital was not reaching high school students effectively on the Web. I interviewed admission staff and current and prospective students. I recommended a process for hiring and monitoring a few Capital freshmen who would maintain blogs on the university’s Web site. Despite significant protests from faculty, my proposal won administration approval. I hired three freshmen to publish the first unedited student blogs on a university Web site. The comments prospective students left on these blogs demonstrated a significant increase in the reach of Capital's Web presence.Web MarketingCapital University's Web presence was inconsistent. I wrote a Web marketing plan that include a site overhaul, a content management system (CMS), and a singular focus on search engine optimization. After receiving approval for the plan, I led a redesign committee and hired and managed IT and marketing agencies to assist in the project. I oversaw the publication of more than 400 new pages of content, conducted training classes for faculty and staff and directed the implementation and customization of a new CMS. The new Web site garnered top Google ranking for Capital University and many of its major programs and was rated as the fourth best admission’s Web site by the National Research Center for College & University Admissions.Responsibilities• Manage external Web site• Build Web pages and forms• Create Web-based graphics and images• Write and implement Web-based marketing plans• Write and manage editorial workflows• Write content guidelines and a style guide
