Bob Rudd has over 17 years experience in renewable energy project development, and is a renowned expert in battery storage. At Plus Power, Bob has originated and developed several marquee projects, resulting in over 1,600 MW of utility-scale battery storage now operating or under construction. Active since early 2018, Plus Power has established the premier standalone storage portfolio in North America that we now own and operate as an Independent Power Producer (IPP). Prior to Plus Power, Bob was a Director at Tesla, where he led the team responsible for utility scale equipment sales and project development in the Americas. Earlier in his career, Bob founded and grew the energy storage business at SolarCity, where his team had assembled one of the largest energy storage project portfolios in the world prior to the acquisition by Tesla.Having supported nearly every facet of both generation and storage projects, Bob has a wide array of skills including technical assessments, economic modeling, project development, permitting, real estate, financing, M&A, engineering & construction, plant operations, and trading. And with a long track record of creating value and managing risk — Bob is particularly adept at commercial negotiations and corporate strategy. Bob holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Colorado, and was an NCAA Division I swimmer. Proficient in Spanish, Bob has worked in multiple countries throughout the Americas. A proud husband and dad, during his free time Bob enjoys various athletic pursuits including surfing, skiing, mountain biking, mixed martial arts, golf, and more.
