I am a Software Engineer. I spent much of my career at AOL as a Quality Assurance Engineer. I feel that has done a lot to inform what kind of developer I want to be. I like test-driven development. I like trying to create simple solutions for complex problems. I like trying to envision how a piece of code might be used in the future, and trying to make sure it isn't fragile.I have worked on all sorts of software products from host/infrastructure pieces with no user interfacing to client software UI's and web UI's. I currently work more on web products, mainly on services/APIs that other products use.I like to learn new things, and I like to do things better each time. I feel I have a pretty good capacity to learn, and generally feel like if something can be done, I have as good a shot of doing it as anyone else. I also like to think I'm flexible, and that I don't use some tool or follow some process just because it's the way things are done. Every situation is different, and I like to think I can adapt the way I work to have the highest likelihood of success. I'm not so interested in process as I am in process improvement.
