A published author, technical researcher and public speaker on the history of ship building, engineering subjects and inventors, particularly concerning the Isle of Man. Keen to promote engineering and heritage to schools.Following the publication of his book on William Kennish in 2011, in the year up to March 2017 organised the £5k fund raising and placement of a 200kg Manx Granite memorial to William Kennish in Brooklyn, NY USA, which was attended by Bob and the President of Tynwald, Hon Steve Rodan MLC, Kennish family descendents and the Dep. Naval Attaché from the British Embassy in Washington DC; in June 2017 Tynwald elected William Kennish (1799-1862) to the Manx Patriot's Roll of Honour; in November 2014 the Isle of Man Department of Education named a new £4.9m building The William Kennish Engineering Centre following consultation with Bob and Kennish descendants.
