Taught two graduate level courses in Software Engineering and Embedded Systems Programming for several semesters. Developed new advanced course in Software Engineering for the graduate program. Developed C++ and C# applications under Windows and Linux to simulate an embedded system development platform. Platform has been used successfully since course inception in 2007 until course retirement in 2013 including a major update in 2010. Created course in Wearable Technology with another instructor which was offered in Spring 2016.

Research Assistant in the Eldercare and Rehabilitative Technologies Laboratory. Developed new algorithm to select the subject from a sequence of images using multiple silhouette and people locator algorithms. Currently developing various metrics, based upon centroid movement during ambulation, to allow the study of the effects of various therapies in ambulation.

Department Of Medicine - Mass Spectrometry Lab

Ported existing mass spectrometry analysis software from 32 bit to 64 bit architecture. Software written in C++ using Microsoft Foundation Class. Using both COM and external processes, added support for several different Mass Spectrometry data file formats. Resulting application has both a 32 bit and a 64 bit version.Developed a prototype for on-line web based system to conduct analysis using the 64 bit version of the mass spectrometry analysis software described above. Prototype implemented using C++, MySQL and PHP. System is being deployed on a BladeSystem with 5 blades running Windows Server 2012. System written in C++ and C# and utilizes a distributed system where 1 of the 5 blades provides a web interface (HTML/PHP with MySQL) allowing the user to submit data for analysis. The data is transmitted to one of several instances of the modified original analysis software running on the other four blades. Designed and developed a prototype system that allow multiple PC Workstations associated to Mass Spectrometry instruments to record user activity (log-in and currently running applications) to a central database. The system will allow laboratory managers to determine the amount of time the devices are being used and the projects and/or activities being done for more accurate billing. PC Monitor software uses C# to interact with a MySQL Database through ODBC. System also includes a web interface to generate reports and view usage data. Additionally, responsible for the setup as well as the "care and feeding" of an HP BladeSystem c7000 rack with 5 server blades running Windows Server 2012.

Software lead on new product development project. Responsible for technical success and on-time completion of milestones of the software component of a new product. Managed off-shore development team and provided technical review of all deliverables.Prior to that was a project manager supporting a product that was currently being marketed. Ensured the timely delivery of product change requests, interacting with R&D, Marketing, Regulatory, and Manufacturing to deliver high quality software and hardware changes.Before that, led an effort to port the software from a hemodialysis product built around a 16 bit architecture to a 32 bit architecture. Included in this was re-doing the graphics library, drivers, and general software infrastructure. This was done as a prerequisite to a line extension product on the new 32 bit platform.Preceding that, I was the lead software engineer for two major subsystems of a hemodialysis device. Designed and developed software providing therapy control and safety monitoring. Additionally, played a major role in the development of the third software subsystem.

Project leader and, prior to that, lead developer for the Dinamap MPS Select and Portable patient monitor support projects. Coordinated and directed engineering, clinical services, marketing and V&V to achieve technical quality and project milestones.Prior to that, key developer for a the Dinamap MPS family during its initial development. Assisted in the design and developed the user interface, low level drivers, and system infrastructure. Participated in this project through its entire life cycle. As part of this project, helped to bring an object oriented approach and the C++ language into the company as a platform for hard real time embedded systems.Before that, developed final unit test software for the Dinamap Plus vital signs monitor.US Patent 6,188,407.
