At the heart of everything I do is storytelling.Whether that be on page, online, or on camera, I excel at turning what can be dry, complicated material into something fun and easy to digest for wide audiences. For this work, I've been awarded some of the highest honors you can get for story-telling: an Emmy (4), an Edward R. Murrow and a Peabody Award.Coming out of college I worked for 10 years as a local TV news reporter and anchor. Then I transitioned into a successful career as a comedian and actor. You may know me from my roles as a correspondent on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" or as "The World's Greatest Spokesperson in the World" for Nationwide Insurance in TV and radio ads. My more recent credits include ABC's "Modern Family," NBC's "Superstore" and FXX's "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."All that experience has taught me that hard work and creativity can often help you accomplish on short notice what other people call "impossible."I take great joy in teaching others what I've learned along the way. As a corporate trainer, I've traveled extensively teaching business people how to present more effectively in front of groups and tell their stories in ways that get results. My clients have included General Electric, Johnson & Johnson and T-Mobile.In April 2020, ATD Publications published my first book called “The BS Dictionary: Uncovering the Origins and True Meanings of Business Speak.” It’s a humorous collection of about 300 of today’s most commonly used business cliches and jargon, defining each word or phrase and then giving you its real origin story. I’m proud of the book and I encourage you to get it off Amazon. I graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast News Journalism. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska where I graduated from Creighton Prep High School and St.Bernard's Grade School. I love, love, love Cornhusker football, Jayhawk basketball, and Mets baseball.
