I am a seasoned Programme Developer and Manager with a successful 12 years career as Programme Manager with UNAIDS Sierra Leone. At UNAIDS, I was also involved in resource mobilization as well as the day-to-day management and administration of the Country Office. Bockari started farming in 2014 and has today evolved into a professional commercial farmer – focused largely on mechanized production and processing of organic rice, tree crop nursery development and establishment of plantations in Sierra Leone. I have garnered a wealth of experience in building the blocks to develop Sierra Greenfields which I founded and currently, as CEO/MD for the agribusiness firm. I had a brief stint between 2018 and 2019, as a Consultant at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry - supporting the Ministry to develop and implement its 5-year National Agriculture and Transformation Programme, as well as technical backstopping the Forestry Division. I have a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Sciences from the Njala University Sierra Leone. I also lectured for 4 years in same University in the Biological Sciences and Environmental Sciences Department.Bockari is a top notch Programme Developer & Manager, a Public Health Specialist, and an Environmentalist by Career and Educational Qualification. I have used these skills and knowledge from the above to identify the Agriculture sector as an enterprising venture in Sierra Leone- for both commercial investors and rural people alike. Sierra Greenfields is cognizant of the fact that people (capacity and their well-being) are needed to drive agricultural processes, as well as having sound environment/ecologies/land.   Established in 2018, Sierra Greenfields (SGF) is a private innovative agribusiness Outfit that aims to transform agriculture into a profitable business in Sierra Leone. The country is a virgin ground for maximising agricultural production, processing and Marketing into 'money making machinery', However, this is not fully harnessed because of lack of sizeable capital investment . SGF has 4 business model:1. Establish a model farm, akin to the Songhai Model in Benin- that will house the production, processing, marketing of various agricultural products e.g rice, pepper, vegetables, maize, tree crops, livestock, fish pond, poultry etc, driven by renewable energy. This will be the first Agrotourism site in Sierra Leone and because the proposed site is easily accessible, it is bound to attract many tourists right round the year. In addition, lodging facilities, childrens playing ground, restaurant and bar will be established on the site.2. Establish a one stop shop market plaza at the agrotourism farm site located on the highway that runs from the capital city (Freetown) to the second (Bo-). Local agriculural food crops grown from the farm and outgrowers will be sold there. A gas station, restaurant and bar, a car garage, and public toilet facilities for travellers will also be constructed.3. SGF aim to cultivate 5000ha of rice field in the next 5 years targeting the Sierra Leone (SL) market and neigbouring countries. Rice is the staple foood of SL; the government spends about $300m to import rice every year. With the right investment in mechanisation, irrigation, technology, inputs, processing and marketing, it is possible to recoup at least 10% ($30m) from the toal value of the rice importation bill every year4. Invest in tree crops mainly cocoa and cashew.
