Yonge, the varsity girls basketball program was considered an elite program throughout the state in their classification (2a & 3a). Reached the state final four on six different occasions (2006 – 2010, 2012). Finished as State Runner-Up in 2009 before winning the State Championship in 2010 & 2012. In 2012, P.K. Yonge was the first school in the area ever to produce a McDonalds All American player (Niya Johnson) for either boys or girls.Beyond my experience at the high school level, I coached in the elite travel ball circuit as a coach within the Essence program for seven years. The Essence program is widely considered one of the top travel ball programs in the nation. It was during this time that I coached and assisted with developing numerous players who would go on to play at all levels of competition from the Division I, II, and junior college levels. Some of my former players have gone on to capture a National Championship at the University of Connecticut. I have also coached several players who have made their way to the WNBA and/or currently playing professionally overseas.
