At DFS Inc., I was employed as the Fleet Supervisor. I strove to develop a great team of drivers whose dedication and commitment were remarkable. I held my drivers to the accountability of a professional level and often coached them on bio-security and safety. There were thirty drivers that I was responsible for as well as the responsibility of taking care of all the truck maintenance, billing, and data collection. I have learned how to be a good leader by example and maintained great communication and organizational skills during my time as Fleet Supervisor at DFS in Newell.

I returned to my hometown in Newell due to my father’s health and him needing help on the farm. In the off-time of farming I worked for D&K Implement driving a semi with a flatbed trailer hauling tractors, combines, and farm implements all over the surrounding states. I honed my truck driving skills in this career and learned truck mechanics and how to follow proper DOT regulations. I worked with a great staff which taught me more about team building and being a team player.

I was hired at DCDC in the fall of 2008. I was taught the complete corrections process, from booking-in an inmate to being a daily housing unit officer. I was trained in defensive tactics and verbal compliance that were needed when facing the dangerous situations in a prison environment. I worked under a sergeant with a team of officers maintaining order and discipline in our cell block. I learned great communication skills and team building skills dealing with the inmates and my cell block staff.

Sears was my first job dealing in law enforcement after I graduated from Western Iowa Tech. At the time, I was both continuing my education at Bellevue University and working as the Security Supervisor at Sears. I learned a lot about customer service and working with the security technologies to prevent theft. I had two security officers that worked under me and together we rotated between the multiple Sears locations installing theft prevention devices and inspected the security cameras.
