Experienced research (data-) scientist who reach flow by analyzing data. Skills I have developed during my time as a research scientist are (complex) problem solving, big data handling, data mining, statistics, mathematical modeling, quantitative analysis, programming and data visualization, coding (in Matlab, R and Python), pattern recognition (similar or identical to algorithms used in machine learning), atmospheric physics, climate change, spectral analysis, fluid dynamics, critical thinking, leading and managing projects, tutoring students, scientific writing, peer-reviewing, higher education and lecturing. Former colleagues describe me as an engaged 'out-of-the-box' thinker with high respect for others: I am a team player with a need for autonomy.In addition to science and data analysis, I am deeply engaged in the process of how we (as humans) learn things, and what motivates us when striving to make changes. Being in the field of the Natural Sciences for a long time, I experience the need for interdisciplinary learning: in the current educational system, our view of the world tends to be too limited to our own subject areas. In my opinion, this is not sufficient for developing critical thinking. To me, the very essence of knowledge is to deepen and broaden our understanding of the world - and how we run it - from a system-perspective. In the end, it boils down to core values such as human rights, equality and social justice. Key questions: What is it that we want the system to generate? Does the intended outcome correspond to the actual outcome? What happens to the individual in the system? How can we improve the system?Thank you for visiting my profile!
