After leaving her job in group sales at The Ritz-Carlton in Maui and then Laguna Beach, Maria opted to stay home with her two sons and start an at-home medical transcription business. Around that time, she decided to go back to college and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Business Management and Organizational Leadership. She then became a high school Spanish teacher and was quickly promoted to Director of the Foreign Languages Department. With an interest in contributing to the life of others, Maria also became involved in teaching fitness classes and was eventually chosen to be the fitness trainer on a national reality television show for Spanish network Univisión. Since then, she opened her own fitness studio, created a 6-week fitness program, a 90-day transformation program, a fitness clothing line, and started a podcast. She has been published by the Huffington Post, CNN and Better Home & Gardens, among other publications, and has been featured in People en Español. Currently, Maria is the resident fitness expert for Telemundo and works as a Development Director for the American Heart Association. Maria has thrived as a public speaker, having participated as a keynote and motivational speaker at various community, political and fundraising events, namely as a National Spokesperson for the American Heart Association. Also through the AHA, she is an Adult/Child and Infant First Aid and CPR/AED certification instructor.Maria’s greatest ambition is to create an empowering and uplifting environment everywhere she goes, searching and seizing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
