I am a signal processing engineer helping my company and its clients achieve their forward-looking technical goals. I have a proven ability to design, model and analyze systems for the extraction of information from signal sensors. I have experience in radar, RF, communications, EO/IR, biosensors and physiological signals. Valuing ingenuity and being analytic by nature, I have a solid foundation in applied mathematics and the scientific method.I am often asked what signal processing is. An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a good example. Sensors on the scalp record electrical activity in the brain under the location of the sensors. Signal processing engineers use mathematics to differentiate brain activity during a seizure from typical brain activity to make a sensor that can detect or predict the occurrence of a seizure, thus equipping doctors with devices for improving patients’ lives. In one of my most proud accomplishments, my work analyzing the performances of signal processing algorithms for biosensors in collaboration with colleagues culminated in deployment of these biosensors at national research labs and resulted in recognition with achievement awards from SAIC. Technical leadership and successful business development experience includes writing a contract-winning proposal to take optical two-way time transfer from the lab to relevant environments when executives identified the opportunity but the company lacked any knowledge of the subject. I did this by researching the subject, becoming a subject matter expert. My work will one day result in a next-generation GPS system that has greater precision (from nanoseconds of current GPS to picoseconds/femtoseconds of next-generation systems) and greater security. My expertise in predictive analysis has enabled systems to be conceptualized and their performances to be anticipated to inform their design. A specialty is sensor R&D for rare or anticipated events. Analytical software tools that I have developed are in use by multiple analysts across multiple programs.
