Director, Youth

Scott leads the strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, partnerships and budgeting for the Youth Initiative. He continues to further his understanding and application of best practices around behavioural science, experiential education pedagogy and impact measurement. Grounded in a philosophy of collaboration, inclusion and reciprocity, Scott welcomes other partners to connect and see how our priorities may complement each other.

Scott led the strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of several UNA-Canada programs, including: The International Development & Diplomacy Programme, Canada Green Corps, Canada Green Spaces, the New Diplomacy of Natural Resources and Canada Service Corps. He oversaw a dynamic and talented team of 20 professionals who directly served over 1,500 diverse young people in Canada. He was responsible for all aspects of program management and the $5M budget. Scott also headed significant aspects of UNA-Canada's business development and government relations strategy. Through a network of domestic and international partnerships with government, universities, charities and industry he built partnerships that increase the scope, scale and impact of UNA-Canada's mission and vision. Scott led the design and writing of proposals to provincial, federal and corporate funders that resulted in over $15M of funding. He was also elected North American civil society representative for the third and fourth United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) in Nairobi, Kenya.
Programme Coordinator - International Development & Diplomacy Internship Programme (Iddip)
Scott was responsible for the overall strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of the International Development & Diplomacy Internship Programme (IDDIP). During his time at UNA-Canada, Scott oversaw the deployment of over 200 young professionals to over 20 United Nations offices around the world for six-month internships. He developed seven partnerships with Canadian universities to provide life-changing international experiences for dozens of co-op students.Working with a small team, Scott maximized limited resources to manage budgets, liaise with various levels of government, develop collaborative partnerships with universities and United Nations Agencies, steward donors, maintain the website, and track outcome metrics for evaluation purposes.
Policy Analyst
Scott led the strategic planning, promotion and coordination of an innovative online youth employment project titled, “Youth@Work Bhutan". Working closely with government, civil society, private sector partners and universities, Scott organized and led high-level consultations and workshops meant to inclusively analyze Bhutan's youth employment policies. He enhanced the Country Office's capacity to provide high-quality policy recommendations and development services to relevant stakeholders. He also provided strategic management and coordination to scale income generating opportunities, Brand Bhutan and social protection projects.
Program And Policy Review Advisor
Scott and two student colleagues comprehensively reviewed a decade-long HIV and AIDS volunteer program implemented by the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) and their local partner organizations. This primarily included collecting qualitative data by conducting interviews with key personnel in WUSC partner organizations across Botswana, and assessing WUSC's volunteers' attribution and contribution to their partners’ achievements. He formally presented the conclusions to key stakeholders and delivered a final report and recommendations for future policy use by WUSC and the Government of Botswana.

At the International Language Academy of Canada (ILAC), Scott created and tailored lessons for numerous learner requirements and challenged himself to create engaging and inclusive activities that served all students. Additionally, he advised international students considering attending Canadian post-secondary institutions. Since he also loves soccer, Scott helped arrange, and participated in, a weekly after-school soccer tournament for interested students and staff - ILAC's "mini World Cup".
