I found, build, operate, consult for, invest in, and advise businesses in legal and financial services, tech, and logistics. My experience spans strategy, technology, business, and operations, ranging from top Am Law firms and $B+ AUM investment firms to idea-stage startups. I bring nearly two decades of executive experience to any team, and frequently serve in outsourced executive roles. Ventures and projects that interest me for collaboration or investment often feature:• Financial, legal, logistics, or “pure” tech businesses.• Decision support, optimization, or automation for complex business processes.• “Big data,” natural language processing, machine learning, statistical analysis, visualization, computer vision, or scientific computing approaches. My research has been published in scientific journals, law reviews, and mainstream media. Some examples include:• Predicting the votes of Supreme Court Justices.• Algorithmic trading and intraday volatility in Quantitative Finance.• Tax law and dependence structure in the Virginia Tax Review.• Legislation and computational linguistics in The New York Times. Outside of for-profit activities, I am passionate about education and community-building. At the University of Michigan, I lecture on Computational Modeling and Complexity. At Michigan State College of Law, I am an Adjunct Professor of Law, where we are preparing our students for the future of the legal profession. In the community, I organize the Michigan Python Developer Group and Detroit useR Group. I hold an M.S.E in Financial Engineering, M.A. in Political Science, and B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where I was an NSF-IGERT fellow at the Center for the Study of Complex Systems.
