Bonnie Kersch wants to live in a world where hand-written letters are the norm, everyone is treated with respect, keyboards come with cat repellent built into them, and a toddler-proof force-field activates around bathroom doors when moms are inside. Alas, that world doesn’t yet exist, so instead she has chosen to devote her time to Global Trade Compliance. As a Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Customs Specialist, Master Customs Specialist, Certified Export Specialist, and Incoterms 2020 certification recipient, Bonnie has worked in the compliance world for many years, specializing in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and e-commerce sectors. She has handled almost every aspect of compliance including Classification, Free Trade Agreements, Export Licenses, Broker Management, Denied Parties Screening, Country of Origin Determination, Deemed Exports, Incoterm Determination, Internal Audits of Import Files, Duty Drawback, Transfer Pricing Reconciliation, Valuation, Return Order Imports, Record Retention, and more. Bonnie graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in English Literature. She has a small army of children and enjoys coaching a swim team and doing improv comedy, but not generally at the same time. Bonnie volunteers with Junior Achievement teaching children about economics. She also taught LSAT, GRE, ACT, GMAT, and SAT prep courses for Kaplan Test Prep for over 20 years and is a very good teacher and presenter with regular speaking gigs at industry conferences. She cares about those she teaches and loves seeing the moments when they finally catch on to a concept. When those moments don’t come easily, you may find her belting out “Gangsta’s Paradise” at your nearest karaoke bar.
