I was recently honored to be elected to serve on Salem's Charter Commission, and re-elected to Salem's Zoning Board of Adjustment. I recently resigned as President of the Salem NH Farmers Market, a position I held for over four years, and just joined the board of Salem Family Resources.I am serving our County as an at-large member of the Executive Committee of Rockingham County Democrats, which has put me on the NH Democratic State Committee. Now it is time for me to do more for our community, by serving as a State Representative for Rockingham District 8 (Salem). In addition to my extensive background of volunteerism, I am uniquely qualified to be elected. I helped write several environmental/food safety bills, and have testified at a number of hearings for various bills. I trained as a teacher, and, after college, did substitute teaching and taught private music lessons. I later studied small business management and graphic design, and owned a graphic design studio for 18 years. I worked as a legal secretary for several years, and, because I learned quickly, my work was soon billed as a paralegal. And, I worked as a manager for other businesses for a decade. I am now a "professional volunteer," and am not looking for employment. As a business owner and manager, I was a versatile professional with the ability to multi-task and manage my time wisely. I am able to work effectively with little direction, but am a team player with exceptional written, interpersonal and communication skills, and attention to detail. I listen. I understand the art of compromise. I have solid leadership skills, get along with most people, and have earned the respect of those on both sides of the aisle. If you are in a position to help me, with your vote, volunteering or donation, I would be very appreciative. Thanks.

NH RIGHT TO KNOW GMO is a statewide grassroots network of safe food advocates, working together to educate NH citizens, and our state legislators about genetically engineered foods (frequently called genetically modified organisms or GMOs). Our goal was to reach a critical mass of awareness and support for a bill that will require the labeling of genetically engineered foods in New Hampshire. Since the federal government preempted the right of States to pass their own labeling law, this group has not been active, although we still occasionally post on Facebook. As a volunteer, I founded this organization, and designed and maintained our website and Facebook page, ran educational programs, did public speaking, and worked with legislators and other volunteers. I helped write and introduce our last GMO labeling bill.
I have filed to run as a candidate for the new position of Town Councilor, as Salem transitions from having a town government run by a 5-member Select Board to a 9-member town council. I am hoping to be elected in a special election on May 9, 2023 for one of the two-year positions. • Candidate no more! I was elected on May 9, 2023. My term runs until March 2025.

It was an honor and a privilege to serve on this non-profit organization. Salem NH Farmers Market provides the community with foods and products that cannot easily be found locally. It also provides farmers and artisans -- all small businesses -- a place where they can sell their products, with marketing and credit card services available, without huge expenses. It is a business incubator: Some businesses have started at the market, and have gone on to start brick-and-mortar businesses or wholesale their products to major retailers. I did much of the marketing for most of my time on board, but my favorite part of my involvement was promoting the SNAP program and providing support for the Boys & Girls Club, as well as other local non-profits. I resigned after 4+ years, because board members are only supposed to serve for two consecutive terms of two years, and because it was time to allow new leadership. After my notice, I stayed on for an additional 4 months at the request of other Board Members.
