President And Head CoachUnited States Clay Target Academy Jun 2011 - PresentTampa, Florida, United StatesThe United States Clay Target Academy is an Olympic Development program whose mission is to support and promote amateur athletes at the recreational, grassroots level in shotgun safety, training and education, and to provide training for participating athletes pursuing State, National and Olympic goals. The USCTF Mission is to also provide a world class, year-round training facility, coaching and training for athletes pursuing National and Olympic dreams. The United States Clay Target Academy training program is based on principles and methods developed by ISSF Certified Coaches Bonnie Chamberlain and Marvin Spinks. We begin by providing the tools and training to help entry-level athletes develop into proficient shotgun athletes in all disciplines, ultimately introducing them to Olympic shotgun sports. Further, we help advanced athletes hone their skills in preparation for being National Team Members and Olympic hopefuls. We stress safe gun handling techniques, fundamentals, and firearm care at an early age with an understanding that this solid foundation often results in a lifetime interest in shooting sports and the outdoors. Our sport also builds self-confidence and self-esteem as well as the discipline that participation in a team sport instills. The goal of the Academy is to provide athletes with the skills to be able to (a) achieve individual success as well as be a member of a competitive and cohesive team; (b) meet their full potential as competitive shotgun athletes; and (c) develop positive character traits such as self-reliance, discipline, independence, responsibility, time management skills, self-esteem, and self-confidence while learning the principles of fair play and sportsmanship. Our training programs have the first two ISSF Olympic Level Certified Professional Coaches in the United States, Marvin Spinks and Bonnie Chamberlain. We also have a team physician as well as a strength and conditioning coach.

Training Academy Level 2 Shotgun CoachIssf Nov 2007 - PresentUsaThe ISSF is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the sole governing body of the international shooting sport in international competitions. The demands of modern sport shooting and its institutions have increased considerably during recent years. This is especially true in the technical field, but also in all fields of Sport Sciences. The ISSF Training Academy (TA) has devised and developed a structured plan and curriculum of coach education worldwide as well as structural guidelines for educational programs within the framework of the ISSF. After completing the Courses participants should be capable of: Putting knowledge of modern sports education (pedagogy) and research into practice by demonstrating an appropriate level of intellectual and applied skills, through the study of bio-mechanical, physiological, psychological and technical variables and the inter-relationships that exist between them and how they influence performance in ISSF shooting. Incorporating sport medicine research and sport psychology into the training and competition process. Applying those strategies and tactics that govern successful performance. Applying general and specialized coaching methods in their special fields of work and demonstrating the essential inquiry, analytical and interpretative skills of a sport coach and a creative approach to the independent management of problems. Planning, conducting and evaluating sport specific activities. Applying organizational and administrative procedures within their daily work. Applying a basic knowledge of sport specific equipment into their daily work. Conducting practical work with the media. Identifying and effectively using key personal and transferable skills that will enable them to professionally discharge their roles for the improvement of shooting athletes with whom they work.
