Loh Boon Chye has been CEO of Singapore Exchange (SGX Group) since mid-July 2015. With close to 30 years of experience in the financial industry, his career journey has brought him through Bank of America-Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank where he spent 17 years, as well as the Monetary Authority of Singapore and Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. of New York.Boon Chye plays a key role in the development of Southeast Asia’s capital markets. He currently sits on the boards of GIC and World Federation of Exchanges, and is a council member and Distinguished Fellow at the Institute of Banking & Finance Singapore. He is also Co-Chair of the Council for Board Diversity.At SGX, Boon Chye drives the company’s strategic direction and is focused on transforming SGX into a world-class multi-asset exchange. Under his leadership, SGX established new businesses such as SGX Index Edge in 2015, expanded its geographical footprint to 10 global cities, as well as made strategic investments such as the acquisition of the Baltic Exchange in 2016, and Scientific Beta and BidFX in 2020. Singapore Exchange Regulation, a separate subsidiary undertaking all the front-line regulatory functions, was also set up.Boon Chye is a firm believer of mutual growth through international collaborations and partnerships. Together with his colleagues, his priority is to grow SGX into a leading global marketplace for equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities.He draws inspiration from his wife and four children, and their family holidays almost always include a trip to the African bush or the ski mountains. Hitting the gym is his way of getting a mental boost while keeping fit at the same time.
