Mijn taak is om aan te sluiten bij de behoeften van mensen, alsmede hen te ondersteunen in de fase nadat zij te maken hebben gehad met een heftig iets. Je luistert, hoort en sluit aan bij de behoeftes en wensen van mensen en probeert hen praktisch verder te helpen zodat zij de draad van hun leven weer op kunnen pakken. The project revolves around the set-up of explant assays in order to study the underlying mechanisms of axon pathfinding at early developmental stages of the brain.During the research project, I was also engaged in learning in-situ hyridizations (Dig-labeled) and apply my previously obtained practical skills in molecular techniques.

My project involved increasing understanding of midbrain development during embryogenesis and the role of HPRT in this system. By the use of immunohistochemistry I shed light on HPRT expression during embryonic brain development. I also studied dopaminergic neurite outgrowth from the midbrain with or without HPRT activity in HPRT deficient mice, a translational model for Lesch-Nyhan Disease.

Assistance in large practicals on different themes within the bachelors' course Human Embryology and Developmental Biology. Practicals were aimed to visualize developmental processes in Xenopus Laevis, Danio Rerio. Furthermore, I assisted in the practical examining different developmental stages of the domestic chicken. Lastly, I assisted in the teratology practical, where I guided students through the anatomical museum, focusing on human embryonic development.

Characterization of a novel microfluidic 'organ-on-chip' model of the human blood-brain-barrier. Highly interdisciplinary project combining microfabrication, cell-biologocial techniques and sensor systems.The project resulted in a final mark of 9.0 out of 10.0.

Worked 5 months on the development and characterization of a microfluidic pump, capable of pumping bodyfluids. The purpose of the pump is to be used in an in vivo diagnostic tool.
