I am a sex therapist with over 15 years of experience in mental health and social services. I help my clients explore and connect with the origins of their sexual experiences and teach them how to shift their sexual mindset to align with their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual being. I attended the Certificate program at the University of Michigan with the intention of providing a space for black men within Sex Therapy. While there, I noticed I was the only black identifying cis-gender man in the program. Although I learned vital sex therapy tools, techniques and methods, I also witnessed a neglected space for black men in institutions and in the community as it relates to professional sexual health practices. This experience amplified my drive to cultivate a space for everyone, especially with black men in mind, for care and treatment. I believe my efforts will redefine masculinity without toxicity and address the miseducation that fuels an unhealthy culture in hopes that we can build a wider known Sex Positive community. Being one of the less than 10% of black identifying male sexual therapists in the industry, I know the more people I can help, the greater the opportunity to change the narrative that defines black sexuality.
