At the University of Glasgow (Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation, College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences) I established a Chemical Parasitology laboratory which focuses on the identification, characterisation and biochemical unraveling of parasite enzymes and on exploitation of these enzymes for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes..

I initiated an independent research line on (bio)chemical parasitology aiming to exploit biochemical differences between host and parasite. In this project, for which I obtained funding from Zon-MW, I aimed to identify and characterise parasite specific deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) and to explore these enzymes as novel therapeutic targets.

Within the NKI Robotics and Screening Center I supervised all compound screening campaigns performed at the NKI. I was responsible for the acquisition and management of chemical compound libraries.
