Xfinity Home and IOTKey contributor to a team working on the Xfinity Home product hosted on AWS ECS. Goal is to build an easy-to-use rule-based home automation system. Designed and implemented EEL, a general purpose service to transform and filter arbitrary JSON event payloads as they traverse Comcast's IOT infrastructure. The EEL proxy service and transformation language are now available as Open Source.Designed and implemented flows (runtime and compiler) as an intuitive abstraction for modeling automations.Comcast Message Bus (CMB)Lead engineer for CMB, a general purpose message bus for the cloud implemented in Java. The service is API compatible with Amazon's SQS/SNS and built on Cassandra and Redis with the goal of linear horizontal scalability. Supported the first production deployment of CMB internally and also facilitated an Open Source release. Performed several presentations introducing CMB to both internal and external audiences including a session at the 2013 Cassandra Summit in San Francisco.Movie RecommendationsSpearheaded exploratory project to build a movie recommendation engine based on social signals from Facebook and Twitter. Rather than looking at global trends the idea is to take a personal approach focusing on the individual and their first degree connections. Studied machine learning techniques as well as the Netflix Prize to build two flavors of social recommendation engines, one based on latent factors and another one based on meta data. Performed A/B testing with a small test audience to determine viability.X1 Sports AppJoined Comcast as senior backend engineer for Sports App (most popular App on X1 platform). Backend ingests game events from a third party service provider and persists them in an Oracle database. Used Memcached to improve performance. Refactored existing code base to make it more maintainable and ops friendly. Identified and fixed numerous bugs following regular log file analysis.

Leading migration of existing client-server architecture to the cloud (Microsoft Azure). Designed and implemented parallel architecture for high performance computing. Implemented dynamic elasticity for platform that scales with the number of users.Developed Raven APIs and REST services for easy integration. Enabled export of Raven Activity Diagrams to popular industry standards including XPDL and XMI.

Co-founded NeoCatena Networks with two partners as a company to engineer security solutions for RFID applications. Flagship product is RF-Wall, a firewall-like appliance built on patended technology for detecting counterfeit or cloned RFID tags as well as protecting back-end systems from attacks spreading via RFID tags. Lead a development team of three to the successful release of the product.

Responsible for turning the Raven desktop tool into an enterprise solution including a web based user interface and a server component for collaboration and file sharing. Customized a Microsoft SharePoint system and developed a library of custom Web Parts as well as application specific Web Services.

Senior architect for Compensation Management product. Introduced an automated build process for continuous integration using Ant and CVS. Lead project to convert the entire product to full J2EE compliance to allow hosting on any J2EE application server. Performed load and stress testing with OpenSTA to identify and mitigate performance bottlenecks to significantly increase the number of concurrent users supported by a single instance.

Implemented a tool for revealing security risks in state-of-the-art RFID technology (ANSI C with Gtk UI for Linux). Demonstration at 2004 BlackHat conference in Las Vegas.4-months project "BOSS" for the "Federal Office for Information Security" (BSI) in Germany. Architected enhancements to the Open Source network security scanner Nessus to be part of a suite of tools tailored for generic security auditing.

Lead Kadiri's EAI initiative: Architected and implemented interfaces between the Kadiri Compensation Management product and various HRMS (such as PeopleSoft and SAP). Designed API and SOAP based Web Services.

6-months project to design a fully dynamic web portal for a public authority leading a group of three developers. Responsible for choice of technology stack and customer presentations. Customized an Open Source CMS (Midgard) on Linux by substantially modifying core PHP scripts as well as extending the system's underlying database (MySQL).
