I started ironworker when I was 18 as something to pass time until I decided what I wanted to do as a job for my life. During my time ironworking I fell involve with the trade and brother hood that I had been brought into. I excelled very quickly in my trade and experience things in my few 5 years that many 30+ year members get the joys the be part of.Over the almost 12 years I have been with the ironworkers union it has taken me all over Canada working on a variety of multi million dollar projects and allowed me to work at different levels as a worker and in supervisor roles.In 2017 I was given the opportunity of a life time to travel to Mali, Africa to tea part in a the construction of a new gold mine a company out of Vancouver was building. I never thought as an ironworker I would be given the chance to see the world and be paid to do it. It has been one of the greatest highlights in my still young career. Besides working in a different part of the world it was an extremely humbling experience working with the locals and learning the culture they live day to day. It changed my life forever and gave me the utmost appreciation for the smaller more basic things in live and I will never forget how much I learnt there. I was there to work and also to train locals but I believe in the end I had learnt more from them about life the I could've ever taught them about ironworking.
