As a PhD student, I expanded the research area of my master's thesis to enantiomeric separation processes. Over the years, I have analyzed the diastereomeric salt crystallization of an API from thermodynamic and kinetic aspects and developed a continuous resolution process to crystallize pure diastereomers with high yield. During my master's program, I was working at the Polymorphism Research Division of Gedeon Richter Plc. My research project was focused on continuous antisolvent crystallization of an API and process development in a laboratory scale. I used FBRM for real-time analysis and a process turbidimeter for level control. Particle size analysis, XRPD, optical microscopy, and DSC/TG-MS were involved as offline analytical techniques.

I was working on a chiral resolution project with the guidance of Emeritus Professor E. Fogassy. The knowledge I could acquire under his mentorship proved to be invaluable in later projects related to enantiomers. My bachelor thesis was focused on the diastereomeric salt crystallization of an API and the purification of its enantiomeric mixture. Crystallization and analyses with chiral HPLC and NMR were my main tasks.

I spent six weeks at the Polymorphism Division where I investigated the crystallization technology of an API. During the industrial process development, I created and evaluated DoEs, and used solid-state analytics such as XRPD, optical microscope, and TG-DSC.
