Botao Amber Hu is a researcher, designer, and creative technologist. He serves as the director of the Reality Design Lab, an interdisciplinary research and design lab that focuses on the intersection of speculative design, spatial computing, and programmable cryptography. Under his leadership, the lab emphasizes the development of embodied interaction experiences within co-located mixed reality, cross-reality integrations, and the design theory of blockchain-based permissionless realities, as well as artificial life within mixed reality. Amber is not only a researcher and innovator in these fields but also an accomplished designer and creative technologist who established Holo Interactive Inc., the company that operates the lab. With expertise in AI, ALife, XR, ZKML, robotics, ludology, and media theory, Amber has collaborated with renowned companies such as Apple, Twitter, DJI, Google, Microsoft, Pinterest, and thatgamecompany. His works have been showcased at top conferences, including SIGGRAPH, WWW, CHI, SXSW, and TEDx, and have earned him awards such as the CHI Best Interactivity, Red Dot Design Award, iF Design Award, Webby Awards, and the Core77 Design Award.
