Staff Product Designer, Instacart Design System
Lead Product Designer, Instacart Design System
Principal Product Designer, Uniform Design System Product Owner
As the product owner for Uniform, I led the discovery and enhancements of Uniform to support the next version of Hudl (then known as Hudl Beta). I coordinated and collaborated with stakeholders across the entire company from brand, product, engineering, design and leadership. I worked with the small team building the design system to prioritize the changes required of the system to facilitate mass change via Uniform. As an individual contributor I led the accessibility efforts at Hudl. I worked closely with our legal and sales team to produce a process for auditing and roadmapping new accessibility requirements. In addition to producing those processes, I curated a series of materials for product and design directors to educate them on the requirements for accessibility compliance. These materials provided the confidence for Hudl business units to provide estimates for changes required to satisfy sale deals across the country requiring our Accessibility Conformance Report to close.During this time I also was a devoted design and Platform Team leader, giving design a voice during massive backend service migrations serving our most important users: the Hudl product team. I worked alongside Platform Team leadership to illustrate the cost of delayed maintenance and the efficiency gained by adoption of new features and products, whether built or bought.
Lead Designer, Uniform Design System Product Owner
As the owner of the Uniform design system vision and strategy, product roadmap and prioritization I am responsible for its adoption, advocacy and governance. This includes system documentation, implementation; the evolution of components, visual language, patterns and overall aesthetic. I am responsible for scaling the design system between a suite of software products that span mobile on iOS, Android, React Native, MacOS and web. I also built and defined Hudl’s accessibility standards and owned its rollout process.I work closely with individual designers of the product team for critique which includes art direction and user research for understanding on-the-ground issues. I mentor and collaborate with content and product designers and engineers to identify new use cases to design and build new components and patterns. I then use the available data from collected customer insights to identify new needs, or challenge existing portions, of the design system to continuously evolve Uniform.I collaborate with product owners, product managers and engineering directors to prioritize and build with Uniform components, patterns and guidelines. I also partner with Brand and Marketing designers to use the design system while elevating and evolving the Hudl brand.
Senior Product Designer, Uniform Design System Product Owner
As product owner I am responsible for the adoption, advocacy and enforcement of the Uniform design system. In March 2018 we released V3, our first formalized public release with 0% adoption. I worked hand-in-hand with other product owners, product managers and engineering leads to bring adoption across our product to 65% in three months. When other products with inactive development required adoption, our team upgraded those products, bringing our adoption rate to 100% by March 2019.During this time we expanded the system to three times as many components, and increased our offering from web-only React components to React Native. We released interface patterns, product enhancements and words specifically related to writing in the product. In doing so, we also went through deprecated parts of the Hudl product to adopt Uniform components and styles to make a more cohesive interface from end-to-end.
Design Manager
As a design manager I work alongside a team of designers across various areas of the product team, building everything from our onboarding and first-interaction, to our billing and subscription management. I help designers level up their skills while also working on building the next phase of Uniform, Hudl's design system.
Design Team Lead
I led a team of designers to help hone their craft, become better designers, and build the next iteration of our product to help coaches win more games and athletes become more skilled. I did this while also maintaining my Product Designer responsibilities discovering, researching, building, and iterating on various aspects of our products. As a team lead I effectively and efficiently handled conflict and delivered real talk while remaining respectful of the situation and the individual. I knew when and how to challenge my reports to achieve their next goal and where to push them into an area they wish to expand their knowledge while contributing to their own team.
Product Designer
As a designer for Hudl I led a small team to find the right problems to solve. While working in an agile environment I was responsible for digging into research, hosting user interviews and usability studies, calling upon sketch sessions, and building wireframes and prototypes to test my hypothesis. After validation, I would design low or high fidelity mockups and work beside team engineers on the front and backends to build the product as it was designed. I focused heavily on interaction design and user experience for a variety of products including our mobile record and upload system for iOS devices and billing and account management systems.

I steered the Nebraska chapter of AIGA, the professional association of design, to follow the mission to advance design as a professional craft, strategic advantage, and vital cultural force. During my tenure, I guided a large board of directors to develop and follow through with programming that followed our mission to bring community to our design audience throughout the state of Nebraska. Working closely with each director, we broadened our definition of design to encompass all aspects: architecture, creativity, urban, and more. We began collaborations with organizations like: The 1877 Society (OPL), BarCamp Omaha (and then adopted), Bench: MADE, Design Alliance Omaha (daOMA), Do Space, KANEKO, Letter Arts Alliance of Nebraska (LAA), MAKE Lincoln, NebraskaJS Conference, and Recess Conference to expand our horizons and intertwine our audiences to bring design to every person interested.Working together, we increased our financial standing by 151%, including the adoption of new annual budgets for membership, chapter investments, community goodwill, and design initiatives. We also increased chapter membership by 21% and established a new set of bylaws for chapter protection, a board structure reorganization, and the adoption of a newly founded advisory board and board committee roles. The Nebraska chapter of AIGA was formed in 1991 and serves the design community and related fields throughout the state. It builds programming and provides opportunities through the activities of the parent organization, AIGA.AIGA, as the largest community of design advocates, we bring together practitioners, enthusiasts, and patrons to amplify the voice of design and create the vision for a collective future.
Director Of Show
Prepared, planned, and organized the largest AIGA Nebraska event of the year: Show. I gathered multi-faceted designers from around the country to judge two rounds of entries, established the overall timeline for event planning, delegated tasks for design, venues, and other items to create a seamless event in which everyone enjoyed.

By discovering their vision and designing deliverables from websites, user interfaces, app designs, and more, I oversaw projects from start to finish. This direction included creative vision, color theory and design fundamentals, understanding of the target audience and business, and communicating each of these items effectively to build my team's overall design skills.Clients included Google, Twitch, Virgin, Beep and more.
Designer / Developer
As a designer / developer I was responsible for brand strategy, collaborative thinking and executing those ideas to reach their creative potential. I worked on projects that expanded my skillset to include HTML/CSS and WordPress, jQuery and Javascript. I helped bid projects and provided estimates for clients to complete that work.
Design Intern
As a graphic and web design intern I used my skills in Photoshop and Illustrator to complete duties and tasks for brand development by building websites, crafting illustrations and more.
Creative & Media Coordinator
While working in advertising and graphics, I was the sole designer of magazine ads, product literature, brochures, mailings, fliers, and other miscellaneous print and promotional items. I coordinated the $300k advertising budget and contracts as well as composed advertising scheduling and followed through from start to finish. I pushed new directions in their current advertising plans to set them apart from their competition. I also personally started, and grew, their Facebook social media presence from absolute zero, to over 650 fans in 12 months with a target market of those primarily 55+.I used my talents to increase the overall perception and association of the Blue Ox brand in the recreational, commercial, defense and agricultural markets.
