My PhD-thesis is the biography of the historian Loe de Jong who wrote extensively on the occupation years 1940-'45 in the Netherlands. Dr. L. de Jong used to be a media celebrity during the postwar years in the Netherlands. My biography was published on the 24th of April 2014, the 100 birth day of my protagonist. In April 2015 my dissertation was nominated on the shortlist of 6 titles that contest for the Boerhave Biography Price that is awarded to the best biography of a Dutch scientist during the last 3 years (period 2012-2014). Currently I am working on a publicaton on Sally de Jong (1914-1945), the twin brother of Loe de JongI worked as Management Trainer, Human Development Officer and Publisher in Higher Education before I started teaching at University.During this diverse career track my personal specialties served as a reliable talisman; I am a good listener and curious, determined and resilient, analytic and diplomatic; keen on stimulating personal motivation. This attitude fits well with teaching. I learn students to argue smoothly by valueing sound scientific methodology and develop personal insights. Success and failure in learning is the outcome of long term processes of personal strive and external obstacles that should be dealt with.
