As a Senior Researcher in the migraine group of Prof Michel Ferrari and Prof Arn van den Maagdenberg, I was responsible for the Genetics research team. Together with this team I aimed to unravel (epi)genetic mechanisms involved in migraine and comorbid neurological disorders (such as epilepsy and depression). Strong collaboration with the Functional team and the clinicians of the Neurology department allowed for coherent translation of the genetic findings to functional experiments and clinical parameters and vice versa.• Research management• Supervision over PhD students, technicians and research assistants• Cross-functional and cross-cultural collaboration with international research teams• Scientific writing• Starting new research lines, and applying for funding• Presenting study results & Teaching• > 40 publications

Title of the thesis: 'The Evolving Genetic and Pathophysiological Spectrum of Migraine'Thesis was defended and PhD awarded at 20-01-2011I did my PhD in the migraine research group of Michel Ferrari (Dept of Neurology) and Prof Rune Frants/Prof Arn van den Maagdenberg (Dept of Human Genetics) . The research was focused on the identification of and characterization of migraine susceptibility genes and pathways. Approaches ranged from genetic and functional studies of gene mutations in rare monogenic migraine subtypes to genetic studies in a Dutch genetic isolated population, and gene expression studies in transgenic mouse models. • Research management (design, planning, analysis)• Supervision over 2 technicians and 2 research assistants• Key-member of national and international migraine research consortia • Generation of 12 publications• Results were used for application of funding and the basis of several follow-up studies• Presenting study results (at international conferences in Europe and in the USA)• Teaching

I worked in the group of Prof Kahn (Dept of Psychiatry) on the segmentation of morphological MRI scans of the brain for an international schizophrenia study
