I work with companies on their online presence. This may be designing and developing a bespoke website for them. I also offer a range of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) services that help them get found in the increasingly competitive online world.I can assist with SEO campaigns, Google AdWords campaigns, help prepare content for the website and manage social media performance for you.I also work with businesses on web-based applications that manage specific processes for that business - work planning, enquiry management, staff training etc... all running using standard web technologies - but over your local office network rather than the public internet.I also offer a range of cost-efficient website services including a pay-per-month solution - with all the elegance and sophistication you'd expect from our websites - but for a fixed monthly fee - and with the support of me at the end of the phone!I set this business up in late July 2010 as I missed the freedom of running my own business (having owned and run Ariam Media Limited between 1997 and 2005 - when I sold it to the People Development UK Group of companies).

Three elements to my role here – IT support, website design and development and graphic design support. The group of companies had 50+ staff in two offices with several home-workers. I implemented a Small Business Server platform for them, along with other servers to cater for their Goldmine CRM system and Terminal Services. I designed and configured the Firewalls with third-party suppliers to allow site-to-site VPN and remote access via VPN.I was also responsible for the group’s 5 main websites, most of which were complex database-backed affairs, including full ecommerce facilities and links to the office CRM system. The membership-based websites allowed for member self-management of contact details and loyalty points.I also worked on publicity and training materials for the group companies – including newsletters, brochures, flyers and books. This frequently included filming and editing training materials for use on CDROM, DVD and web-based delivery, and stills photography for print and online.As well as the in-house work, Ariam Media completed website development work for a wide range of other companies and agencies.

I left Rolls-Royce to start this company - specialising in multimedia CDROMs and website design.The business quickly grew from a home-based business into an office in town employing a graphic designer - as many clients were also asking for support in their print design work.As work increased I also took on a website developer and sold the business on. I carried on working within the business.

Derby

Responsible for setting policy and guidelines for all aspects of the intranet for the Naval Marine business of Rolls-Royce. This included consulting on the Rolls-Royce Corporate Portal Projects including producing a demonstrator CDROM, advising on content structure and implementation of templates for a Content Management System.I also lead a team of site creators by setting initial standards and design.I worked with designers to produce the final design - and ensured that this design was followed through to every level of the site. This also involved working with internal clients (Business Development, Marketing, HR and Training).I was heavily involved in the information architecture and gathering, restructuring and re-writing content.I was also a lead in the project team involved in the redesign of Rolls-Royce.com

Derby

I was responsible for all areas of electronic media design including:- DVD- Video- Web- CDROM-based multimedia work- Marketing and training material for internal and external use- Writing articles for, editing and production managing the employee magazine.Whilst in this role I was instrumental in making the Naval Marine Graphics team the centre of excellence for multimedia production within Rolls-Royce.

Belper, Derbyshire

SIR are an educational software company who specialised, at the time, in multimedia teaching aids - delivered mainly on CDROM. My responsibilities were:- Managing a small team of media and graphics artists.- Responsible for providing all media content (text, graphics, audio and video) for a number of education-based CDROM titles - including the Famous Five series.- I was involved in the legal clearance procedures for copyrighted materials- I advised the programming teams on the best way of utilising rich media content.

Originally employed as a freelance video producer, I quiickly moved into multimedia production.
