I have been working part-time with Heartland Express for 3 years now and I have thoroughly enjoyed every second. There are so many ins and outs of truck maintenance, repair, and transportation that I still do not know most of it. Being there helps me learn so many new skills in and out of the shop that I cannot even wrap my head around it. The main skills there are truck maintenance, such as tire changes, oil changes and filter replacements. Some other skills include communicating with coworkers and drivers, as well as the office staff when new parts are needed.• Proficiency in conducting routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake inspections, and engine tune-ups, contributing to the longevity and optimal performance of the fleet• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including other mechanics, supervisors, and parts specialists, to ensure the smooth flow of repair operations and timely completion of projects

I joined Stebral Construction at the beginning of summer 2023 just because I felt I needed a job. I never really thought about the possibilities that could come with working this type of job, but I was wrong. I learned countless new things, from using power tools to trenching for drain tile. But I learned many other useful skills like how to communicate with coworkers and how to solve many different problems on the fly. I was recruited to coach at this organization by my old high school basketball coach, whom I told that I wanted to stay involved with basketball, even though I was going to school. He pointed me to this role and I absolutely loved it. It gave me a chance to coach, lead and mentor 50 young kids for an entire summer, and I learned so much. I had to communicate with players and parents about practices and games, as well as set up hotels and food. I was also new to managing angry parents, so I gained a lot of experience and empathy through those situations.
