Primary responsibility was to support and influence key Health and Safety issues impacting the sector, and to contribute to making the UK the safest place to work in the industry worldwide. This was done through supporting member companies in addressing their key risks and delivering their key objectives through constructive engagement with and representing Industry issues to a wide variety of influential stakeholders including and primarily the Health & Safety Executive.

Headed a function of around 80 HSEQ people based both in the UK and internationally. Responsibilities essentially were the same as they were for Venture before its take over by Centrica.

Main purpose was to lead the Company in delivering HSEQ excellence. To do so;• Devised, developed, maintained and coordinated the Corporate HSEQ Policy and Management System;• Ensured that Policy and Management System were communicated and implemented and that they remained fit for purpose as the business environment changed;• Introduced and facilitated the Corporate Business Risk Assessment process and coordinated other risk management aspects of the company’s activities;• Created the process and ensured that Venture and the Operators appointed by Venture discharged their legal duties;• Provided strategic advice and support to the COO in delivering Board expectations;• Supported business leaders in meeting their objectives and directed and resourced the HSEQ teams appropriately; • Formatted and implemented the annual HSEQ Plan and audit programme and monitored completion; • Liaised with and represented Company to key Stakeholders in HSEQ matters; • Developed and maintained crisis and business continuity response arrangements;• Designed the process of interfacing of Venture's various business models with principal contractors. Ensured its implementation and that contractor performance met expectations; • Ensured that Venture provided and maintained a safe and healthy working environment for all staff and contractors.
