Directed all aspects of new store construction and opening including day to day job site consultation, budget development, staffing and merchandising Oversee product selection, pricing, procurement and ensure optimal inventory based on market and area trends Handle all staffing, training and development of new employees and management.

The Category manager is responsible for driving the merchandising strategy and delivering profitable results. The position requires development and execution of business strategies that align with the company vision and initiatives while partnering with key cross functional partners. The role will develop concepts, key items, promotional strategies and assortments that are aligned with the brand and the targeted customer. Responsible for driving their area of the business through delivering newness and innovation to the assortment. Specific responsibilities include financial planning, bottom line profit and loss, development of new product lines, and evaluation of existing product lines. Work closely with Sourcing, Inventory Management, Marketing, Visual Merchandising and Operations and vendors to deliver profitable results and increase shareholder value. Analyze and monitor sales, trends and economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns. Determine demand forecasts for everyday and promotional periods. Utilize market research to determine optimal regular and promotional pricing strategy. Provide strategic direction for the development of advertising and marketing initiatives. Analyze, select, order, and procure merchandise at the most favorable cost, consistent with the quality and quantity requirements. Attend trade shows to identify product opportunities and develop relationships. Partner with HR and Store Operations on the development and delivery of effective product knowledge training. Partner with Marketing and Visual Merchandising to improve and develop presentation and go to market strategies. Manage the financial KPI’s, including Sales, Gross Margin $’s and GMROI. Negotiate costs, discounts, coop and freight terms for assigned categories. Set or recommend mark-up rates, mark-down rates, and selling prices for procured product. Function as project manager for all merchandising driven initiatives in support of assigned categories.
