I have 43 yrs experience in process engineering, including 34 yrs of metallurgy & 15 yrs operations experience in continuous process plants. Experience includes 28 yrs of engineering design & 3 yrs of plant commissioning. I have a METSIM license (metallurgical process simulation, heat & mass balance software) (very experienced user).Freelance consultant since July 2008, specialising in nickel laterite project development work. In this time I have been involved in 17 nickel laterite studies, for 2 heap leach projects, 11 HPAL projects & 5 atmospheric leach projects. Four of these projects intend recovering scandium as a by-product. Prior to becoming a consultant I worked 12 yrs for Aker Solutions (prev Davy McKee & Kvaerner Metals) in Brisbane. I have been involved in many base metals projects, contributing to more than 30 nickel laterite projects across all facets of project development covering flowsheet development, testwork planning & management, mining, ore preparation, metallurgical processing, services, utilities & infrastructure, enabling me to bring a whole of project perspective to the table. My nickel laterite experience includes high pressure, atmospheric & heap leaching, & many downstream recovery processes. Previously, I spent 6 yrs at Kwinana Nickel Refinery, developing expertise in aqueous reduction of nickel in high pressure autoclaves and complex hydrometallurgical processes and chemistry.I enjoy project definition, process development, testwork management and METSIM modelling work.Specialties: Laterite Specialist (Ni, Co, Sc).
