I have 43 yrs experience in process engineering, including 34 yrs of metallurgy & 15 yrs operations experience in continuous process plants. Experience includes 28 yrs of engineering design & 3 yrs of plant commissioning. I have a METSIM license (metallurgical process simulation, heat & mass balance software) (very experienced user).Freelance consultant since July 2008, specialising in nickel laterite project development work. In this time I have been involved in 17 nickel laterite studies, for 2 heap leach projects, 11 HPAL projects & 5 atmospheric leach projects. Four of these projects intend recovering scandium as a by-product. Prior to becoming a consultant I worked 12 yrs for Aker Solutions (prev Davy McKee & Kvaerner Metals) in Brisbane. I have been involved in many base metals projects, contributing to more than 30 nickel laterite projects across all facets of project development covering flowsheet development, testwork planning & management, mining, ore preparation, metallurgical processing, services, utilities & infrastructure, enabling me to bring a whole of project perspective to the table. My nickel laterite experience includes high pressure, atmospheric & heap leaching, & many downstream recovery processes.
