I have been working with persons living with HIV since mid 1980s. I was a Certified Nursing Assistant working for a hospital in Maine. We had very few PLWH but I found it helpful in my role, at the time, to simply spend time with those feeling ostracized, as the stigma was largely based on the unknown at the time. A few years later, I worked with a Hospice organization in the Charlotte region caring for those dying with HIV/AIDS. After seven years of working with the local ID doctors it became clear there could be more options for these PLWH. I worked from 1996 to 2000 participating in clinical trials for PLWH. I took approximately 10 years off to raise my family. I returned to infectious disease research in 2011. Infectious disease has included many other diseases since that time, including a big one, COVID. I have learned so much in this job. I have become experienced in a large array of research trials and there is never a dull day,
