Jen-Jay, Inc. provides integrated biological, engineering, permitting, and regulatory services, as well as project management assistance. We effectively support projects from the planning phase through mitigation and monitoring to post construction. The Lead Biologist role directs ecological surveys for regulatory analysis, drafts biological assessments (BA) for proposed development projects, and manages all local, state, and federal permitting processes for complex projects.

Greater San Diego Area

Established in 2008, the award-winning Balboa Park Sustainability Program is a collaborative effort between Balboa Park Cultural Partnership, San Diego Gas & Electric, the City of San Diego, and community partnerships. Managed Balboa Park Sustainability Program including K12 education and outreach initiatives, developing coursework for university students, leading professional development seminars for park employees, and managing sustainability projects for member organizations. Members include 16 educational organizations, the San Diego Zoo, performing arts programs, and cultural centers.

Mccall Field Campus (Mfc), Mccall, Idaho

The University of Idaho's McCall Field Campus is a 14-acre residential education and conference facility bordering Ponderosa State Park with 600 feet of Payette Lake frontage and accommodations for 148 people. Facilities Manager for physical plant with 26 buildings serving 12,000 guest users per year. Served as interface between operations sustainability and educational programming. Managed budgets, supervised employees, drove sustainability initiatives. Coached graduate students in field-based science and outdoor leadership. Designed and taught K12 outdoor science programs.

University Of Idaho

The world, and the US in particular, is challenged to meet the energy demands of a growing population. Finding solutions to these complex problems requires changes in human behavior, the development of more efficient machines and the development of new sources of energy. The transportation sector in particular is challenged to find adequate replacements for fossil fuels that are not only limited but also significant contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. Through the Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance (NARA) project, we have been tasked with conducting educational outreach for K12 students and teachers to engage them in energy literacy education while looking specifically at research assessing the feasibility of creating aviation biofuels from wood waste.

Elms Center, Lexington Park, Md

Being able to teach children about the outdoors alongside the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries was both rewarding and enlightening. I got to wear many hats. Some of my best moments included figuring out ways to expand programs beyond the classroom by constructing safe learning areas on the environmental center campus, revamping aging environment education programs to meet the Maryland Environmental Literacy Graduation Requirement for public school students, and conducting water safety and canoeing programs in partnership with local parks, organizations, and foundations.
